Filipina wins Ford Supermodel contest

DE LA Salle student Charlene Louise Almarvez of the Philippines made it to the 2009 Ford Models’ Supermodel of the World. She joins fellow models Karlina of Latvia; Isabelle of Sweden; Olivia of the United States; Maryna of Belarus, Grace of Australia; and Bruna of Brazil, who will be earning modeling contracts from Ford Models, Inc., the modeling agency founded by fashion industry pioneers Eileen and Jerry Ford in 1947. The girls --introduced only by their first names -- were selected from about 100,000 online applicants from all over the world.

Statuesque at 5 feet 9 inches, Charlene, who will turn 17 on January 25, is from Sta. Cruz, Laguna. She is a Business Administration student of De La Salle-College of St. Benilde. -- PNS
